TAHLEQUAH — Police officers arrested a local man early Tuesday morning after a traffic stop near Morgan and Academy streets.

Maxwell A. Williams, 20, of Tahlequah, was booked into jail for driving under the influence and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Karen L. Miller, 39, of Tahlequah, was arrested Monday for shoplifting at Walmart.

In other matters, employees at Rent-A-Center filed a number of embezzlement reports this week after various customers failed to make payments or return their leased property. Among the reports are an Apple tablet, TVs, TV stand, home theater system, PlayStation 3, and a washer and dryer.

Angela Miller spoke with police Sunday after she discovered her name was being used on Craigslist.com under the home-rental categories.

Employees of the Shell station on South Muskogee told police a man entered the store last week and asked for several 30-packs of beer. When the employee went to get the beer, the man hoisted himself over the counter and attempted to grab money. The suspect was caught in the act and left the store.
