Police Beat: Man arrested after scuffle with police

TAHLEQUAH — A Tahlequah man who allegedly tried to fool officers into believing he wasn’t driving a vehicle was arrested last week after a scuffle.

Officer Brad Robertson stopped 42-year-old Jason W. Martin, who had a revoked license, on Wednesday afternoon at about 1:05 p.m. near the city library. Martin allegedly got out of the vehicle and told Robertson he had not been driving. Robertson explained to Martin he would be receiving a citation, and Martin attempted to walk away, telling Robertson he “could not stop him.” Martin then allegedly became combative but was ultimately arrested for driving while revoked, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled dangerous drug. Police reports show Martin had met with officers just before his arrest to report his debit card being fraudulently used several times.

Mary Evans, 61, of Tahlequah, was arrested Thursday for shoplifting from Wal-Mart.

Donna Sheffield filed a harassment report last week.

Amber Arnall told officers a window screen was vandalized at her home.

Sharon Latta filed a theft report Wednesday.

Johnna Snyder spoke with police when she discovered a rent house had been burglarized. Snyder said the suspects had also turned on all of the gas burners in the home, and the residence was full of natural gas. The Tahlequah Fire Department also responded to the home.

Hen Chau, of August Moon, told police Thursday about the theft of $800.

Tyler Teague reported a stolen bicycle Thursday.

Kathryn Adams filed a harassment report Thursday.
