Police Beat: Two scooped up after pipe drops in front of officers


TAHLEQUAH — Two people were arrested Monday when one of them dropped a pipe in front of officers.

Tahlequah Officer Pam Bell said she noticed a van near Choctaw and Water with its hazard lights on early Monday morning. The occupants told Bell the vehicle ran out of fuel. As they waited for a wrecker, 41-year-old Misty D. Hooper, of Waukesha, Wisconsin, allegedly dropped a pipe in front of Bell. Tahlequah Officer Cory Keele and his canine partner Bo responded and officers later found a cut straw with a crystal residue. Hooper and 30-year-old Matthew L. Westmoreland, of Tahlequah, were both arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance and paraphernalia.

In other matters, police arrested Vfastv Locust, 26, of Vian, for driving under the influence Tuesday.

Julia Anderson, 23, and Laurice Anderson, 47, both of Tahlequah were arrested recently for shoplifting from Wal-Mart.

Brandon D. McGregor, 18, of Tahlequah, was arrested Monday for allegedly shoplifting from Wal-Mart.

Dylan Johnson, 27, of Park Hill, was arrested Saturday for shoplifting from Wal-Mart. Police said they also found drugs when they searched Johnson.

Brittany M. Burke, 22, of Porum, was arrested Sunday for shoplifting from Wal-Mart.

Peggy Stepp, 61, of Tahlequah, was arrested Sunday after police responded to a theft report.

Jarrod M. Fabry, 30, of Tahlequah, was arrested by police Monday after Melisza Stamper called police to report being assaulted.

Employees at Wal-Mart have filed several reports in recent days after shoplifters escaped with merchandise.

Jorge Mojica reported a stolen children’s bicycle Saturday.

Tess Spencer reported a hit-and-run crash Friday.

Precious Hembry filed an assault report Friday.

Courtney Lindley filed an information report Saturday.
