Domestic violence nets arrest

TAHLEQUAH — Tahlequah police arrested a man Thursday evening after a domestic violence incident on West Downing Street.

Danny Ray Elliott, 23, was booked for domestic violence-assault and battery for allegedly hitting a family member with a closed fist. Elliott was discovered hiding in a closet, according Tahlequah Sgt. David Craig.

Barbara Phillips, 49, of Tahlequah, was arrested Wednesday for drug possession and warrants.

Employees at E-Z Mart on East Downing spoke with police Thursday night about a shoplifter.

Teresia Jones told police a riding lawnmower was stolen after the locks to her fence were cut.
