Traffic stop leads to arrest of local driver on multiple charges

TAHLEQUAH — Tahlequah police arrested two people Saturday after a traffic stop near Muskogee Avenue and the bypass..

Juan Martinez, 39, of Tahlequah, was arrested for driving under the influence, transporting open container, no insurance, taxes due state, altered decal and no driver’s license. A passenger, 25-year-old Juan Carazes, of Tahlequah, was booked for public intoxication.

Edward D. Gandy, 45, of Tahlequah, was arrested Saturday for shoplifting at Walmart. Police said Gandy ran but was later captured across the street.

Alyssa K. Fields, 20, of Tahlequah, was arrested Sunday for driving under the influence after a traffic stop near Cherokee and Keetoowah. Police said they observed Fields turn from Keetoowah onto Cherokee, drive onto a curb and nearly strike a utility pole. She then came close to hitting a parked car before she was stopped.
