Man arrested for stealing flag on Veterans Day, hitting vehicle while fleeing


TAHLEQUAH — On Veterans Day, police responded to a report of two men stealing a U.S. flag from a veteran outside Ned’s tavern.

Police arrested Dakota Choate, 21, of Sallisaw and Jesse Bennett, 24, on suspicion of stealing a flag from among many in the bed of a pickup belonging to Russell Boyd Jr., and striking a vehicle and Boyd while fleeing. Boyd was not seriously injured. The incident occurred Monday on Muskogee Avenue.

On Tuesday, Staci Crow, 39, was arrested at the Walmart Supercenter at 2020 S. Muskogee Ave. on suspicion of shoplifting.

Police responded Monday to a complaint at the Oak Hill Motel on South Muskogee Avenue that $260 was stolen from a vending machine in the foyer.

A woman visited the police department Monday to report vandalism to her vehicle.

David Fielder, 40, was arrested Sunday by police responding to a domestic disturbance on Goingsnake Street. Police reports allege Fielder was intoxicated in public and in possession of a set of digital scales bearing methamphetamine residue.

On Sunday, police conducted a traffic stop on Stick Ross Mountain Road for a vehicle traveling left of center. They arrested Cynthia Barnes, 43, and Toni Pritchett, 28, on suspicion of drug possession after a K9 unit gave a positive alert. Police claim a field test on a substance revealed the presence of methamphetamine.

Police took a complaint Sunday from a woman reporting medications stolen from her home on Sooner Drive.

On Sunday, police visited the Walmart Supercenter to take a report from the store’s asset protection of the theft of a Fungi DVD player, a 24-inch Sansui TV and a 32-inch Vizio TV. The suspect, a white male, walked out of the store, set off the alarms, and fled in an older white Dodge pickup.

At Walmart Sunday, police took into custody Kenneth Buchanan, 44, on suspicion of shoplifting.

After police observed lit debris being thrown from a vehicle window on Saturday, a traffic stop on Hillcrest Avenue resulted in the arrest of Kirsten McClanahan, 42, and Antonio Golden, 32, on drug-related charges. Police reports say methamphetamine, marijuana and digital scales were found in the vehicle.

On Saturday, a woman entered the police department to file a complaint that her ex-boyfriend, against whom she has a restraining order, was harassing her friend.

Police took a report Saturday at the Dollar General on East Downing Street that a white male took several items from the store without paying.

On Nov. 8, police took a report of the theft of a child’s tablet and jacket at Walmart.

Patrick Atkinson, 44, was arrested for suspected DUI on Nov. 8. Police allege that Atkinson drove his truck into the stream near The Branch restaurant.

On Nov. 7, police responded to a call on South Park Hill Road from a woman stating that metal had been stolen from outside her residence.

Officers responded on Nov. 7 to a report of vandalism to a window at a residence on South Mission Avenue.

Police received a report on Nov. 6 from Chili’s that an older couple driving a blue Toyota Celica was using fake voucher’s to make purchases.

Also on Nov. 6, a man alleged to police that he was a victim of assault and battery at the housing addition behind the Subway restaurant on South Muskogee Avenue.

A woman filed a report on Nov. 6 that her apartment on East Downing Street had been burglarized.

On Nov. 4, police took a report of the theft of three gaming consoles, a Nintendo DS Lite with serial number UG107517371, a Playstation 3 with serial number AA1136899703, and a Nintendo WII with serial number LU630809394.

Police took a report on Nov. 4 from a man who said his house was burglarized and truck stolen.

A traffic stop at Fourth Street and Garner Avenue on Nov. 3, followed by a canine search, revealed in the trunk a bag containing needles, a silver spoon with white residue, a small plastic bag with white residue, scales and other plastic bags. Interviews of the vehicle owner and passengers resulted in the arrest of Gray Duncan, 36, of Stilwell, on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

On Halloween, police responded to a report of shoplifting at Hibbett Sports on Daisy Drive.
