Area man arrested for shoplifting at Walmart

TAHLEQUAH — Tahlequah police arrested a Locust Grove man Tuesday afternoon for allegedly shoplifting from Walmart.

Police Lt. Billy Dowling said Walmart asset protection employees caught John C. Bertinot, 34, taking five DVDs and other items and concealing them in a shopping bag while he stood in the menswear section of the store. Bertinot then allegedly left the store without paying. According to Dowling, Bertinot has been arrested at the Claremore Walmart for shoplifting, and also has failure-to-appear charges out of Wagoner County.

Police arrested Kristen A. McClanahan, 42, of Tahlequah, on Tuesday for obstructing officers. McClanahan allegedly parked her vehicle at the intersection of Fourth Street and Hillcrest and walked away. When police stopped to talk with her, she became uncooperative. According to police, McClanahan’s vehicle was parked in the southbound lane of Hillcrest and had to be towed from the scene.

Jenny Hall told police some of her checks were stolen and used this week.

Glenda McClanahan filed a disturbance report Tuesday.

Phyllis Kessinger reported the theft of medications and money on Monday.

Melanie Siers spoke to police about a vehicle burglary Sunday and said an iPod Touch and iPod HHS were stolen.

Christopher Crittenden filed a vandalism report Thursday.
