Sheriff's Beat: Woman arrested after passing out in store

TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Cleveland, Okla., woman recently after she was found passed out inside a store.

Deputy Dexter Scott was sent to Tahlequah City Hospital on April 15 after Sarah Halom, 24, was found in a dollar store.

She was treated at the hospital and released, but refused to call for a ride or find a place to stay, according to Scott.

Halom was then arrested for public intoxication, and when officers were booking her into jail, they allegedly found numerous pills, marijuana, and a syringe.

Other charges, including possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of marijuana, bringing contraband into a jail, and possession of drug paraphernalia, were added against her.

Deputies took a report from Jimmy Wilson recently after two people broke into Wilson’s home and stayed the night. Wilson said he is now missing eggs, cologne, and Dr. Pepper.

Nick Sunday told deputies Tuesday that a brown, white and black beagle was likely stolen. Sunday said the canine was on a leash, but disappeared with the leash still in the yard.

Timothy Peevy filed an information report Tuesday.

Stella Campbell told deputies this week that fuel has been stolen out of her vehicle four times.

Larain Sims reported the theft of medication Tuesday.

Kelly Carlson reported the theft of a PlayStation 4 and Battlefield 4 game Tuesday.

Vernon York recently reported the theft of a Model 60 Marlin semi-automatic rifle.

The vehicle’s bumper caught Phelps’ ankle, injuring it.
