Tahlequah woman hit with firearm and drug charges

TAHLEQUAH — Prosecutors have formally charged a Tahlequah woman with possession of drugs with the intent to distribute and knowingly concealing a stolen AR-15 rifle.

Jordan Aja Poteet, 19, was arrested in January after officers learned the stolen rifle might be at Poteet’s apartment. When officers searched the home, they found the rifle beneath some dirty clothes in a bathroom.

According to police, Poteet also had a black lock box that contained a Mason jar with about 58 grams of marijuana, a pipe, scales, and a grinder.

Unlawful possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute is punishable by two years to life in prison and a fine of up to $20,000; knowingly concealing stolen property is punishable by no more than five years in prison and a fine of up to $500; and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia is a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and a a fine of up to $1,000.

Poteet is free on a $20,000 bond, according to booking records.
