Man arrested for shoplifting

TAHLEQUAH — Tahlequah police arrested a man Monday afternoon when he allegedly shoplifted from Walmart.

Justin M. Hunter, 25, was booked into jail after he allegedly concealed a men’s jacket and two cough-and-cold medicines and attempted to leave without paying. Police said Hunter had previously been banned from Walmart due to prior theft charges. Police said Hunter also had an outstanding warrant on burglary charges through Cherokee County.

Police arrested Jessica Lankford last weekend for shoplifting from Walmart.

Officers took a report from Gary Kirkpatrick on Monday. Kirkpatrick said his name has been forged to some checks, which were later cashed.

Marvin Bechtol spoke with police Monday about an attempted home burglary. Bechtol said he was in his living room when an unknown suspect tried breaking in through a back window. The suspect, described as a young male, jumped into a black car, which drove off.

Thomas Tinnin spoke with police this week about a 16-foot flatbed trailer being stolen.
