Man arrested for theft


TAHLEQUAH — A Tahlequah man was arrested this week after allegedly stealing tools from Tahlequah Lumber.

Nicholas S. Avery, 22, was booked into jail for larceny. Police said employees at Tahlequah Lumber called after a man took a tool and left the business without paying. Officers were given a photo of the suspect, who was described as having a tattoo of a tree on his leg.

An officer later spotted Avery at Walmart, and Avery allegedly admitted he stole the tool and tried to sell it for $75.

In other matters, police arrested Matthew L. Goding, 45, of Tahlequah, for driving under the influence and leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage on Tuesday.

Michelle Thurman reported medication stolen from her car Wednesday.

Officers filed a report this week on the vandalism to multiple vehicles near Ida Lane on Sunday. Police said four vehicles were damaged; 12 tires were slashed; and a truck was scratched with a key.

Brittany Childs filed a vandalism report Wednesday.

Harley Lutz filed a vehicle burglary report Tuesday.

Chester Kight spoke to police Thursday when tools were stolen from his vehicle after the suspect broke out a window on the vehicle.

Julia Foreman told police Tuesday her wallet was stolen from the courthouse. The wallet included cash, a Social Security card, and a medical card.

Ashraf Ali filed a report Wednesday after his laptop and cell phone were stolen from his house.
