A 49-year-old Tahlequah woman was jailed Wednesday morning after police stopped a truck for defective equipment.
Officer Brad Robertson noticed a single-cab truck on College Avenue, and realized the truck had a defective brake light. There were also four people in the front of the truck, Robertson said.
Robertson found Bobbi Jo Shirrel behind the wheel and learned she has a suspended license. After Shirrel was arrested, officers found several small bags of a green, leafy substance believed to be marijuana in her pockets. She also had a socket with what officers believe was burnt marijuana residue on it.
Officers searched the truck and found a paper bag with a green, leafy substance, officers said.
Robertson said the three passengers in the vehicle had no illegal substances in their possession and were released when Shirrel was arrested.
Shirrel was booked into jail for possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and driving while suspended.
Court records show Shirrel was charged in June for possession of a controlled dangerous substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving under suspension. She was scheduled to appear in front of a judge Oct. 9 on the June charges.
