Man arrested for destroying property

TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man over the weekend after he allegedly punched and broke a window at a Peggs business.

Dustin Trimble, 24, of Park Hill, was booked into jail for destruction of private property. Trimble allegedly punched the window at Los Ranchos in Peggs after making threats.

Trimble left the scene, but later sought treatment for the injuries suffered to his arm from the broken glass. Trimble allegedly admitted to deputies he had punched the window, and claimed he did so after a man inside the restaurant threatened him. Trimble told deputies it wouldn’t help to give them the man’s name or to make a statement about it the threats.

In other matters, deputies arrested Cara Virginia Jones, 20, for public intoxication and domestic assault and battery last week.

Jessica Statz reported a home and vehicle burglary last week and said several guns were taken, along with medication and jewelry.

Bradley Anderson spoke with deputies last week after he was assaulted by an unknown suspect.

Amanda Ingram reported a home burglary Saturday.

Christina Schwartz told police recently that a man entered her home while she was asleep, and was leaning over her when she awoke. The man then left the home and stole two cell phones.

Corina Poteet reported the theft of medication and $30 from a home over the weekend.

Deputies took a threats report Saturday from a 16-year-old boy.

Robert Beckwith reported a garage burglary last week.

Jeremy Scott reported a verbal argument turned physical last week, and a woman began hitting him in the face with her fists. When he tried to leave, she blocked him from leaving and then hit him and kicked him.
