Break-in sparks arrest

TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies made an arrest recently after a so-called “home invasion” incident.

Janie Garza, 22, of Tahlequah, was accused of kicking a door in to a home with several other people. Garza allegedly assaulted someone at the home and was booked for assault and battery.

Deputies spoke to Teri Berry Wednesday after an assailant punched and kicked her in the face.

Elizabeth Felts reported a home burglary this week and said the intruder took a 40-inch TV, a Dell laptop, and jewelry including a cross necklace.

Erlinda Suasnavas reported a break-in this week.

Maria Terry reported the theft of speakers, subwoofers, amplifiers, a boat cover, an air conditioner and more last week.

Donna Rhodes reported vandalism to a home Wednesday.

Shawn Perez spoke to deputies Wednesday after a scammer obtained her bank debit card and made purchases in California.
