Tahlequah police arrested a Locust Grove man for possession of a controlled dangerous substance Monday night near the Cherokee Courthouse Square.
Reserve Officer Skylar Green said he witnessed Shannon W. Beaver, 35, throwing an object that contained liquid into the construction area of the courthouse, off of Water Avenue between Keetoowah and Delaware streets. Green stopped and spoke with Beaver, who had warrants in Cherokee County. Green arrested Beaver and transported him to the Cherokee County Detention Center.
Jailers then discovered Beaver was in possession of a plastic bag containing a clear, crystal-like substance. Beaver allegedly told the jailer he was “just holding it for a friend.”
