Police Beat - Drug charge lands man in city jail

CNHI

TAHLEQUAH — Tahlequah police arrested a Locust Grove man for possession of a controlled dangerous substance Monday night near the Cherokee Courthouse Square.

Reserve Officer Skylar Green said he witnessed Shannon W. Beaver, 35, throwing an object that contained liquid into the construction area of the courthouse, off of Water Avenue between Keetoowah and Delaware streets. Green stopped and spoke with Beaver, who had warrants in Cherokee County. Green arrested Beaver and transported him to the Cherokee County Detention Center.

Jailers then discovered Beaver was in possession of a plastic bag containing a clear, crystal-like substance. Beaver allegedly told the jailer he was “just holding it for a friend.”

Police arrested two Tahlequah men – 22-year-old Christopher Webber and 22-year-old Roger Bower – early Tuesday morning after the men allegedly broke the tail lights out of a parked car at Pleasant View Apartments.

Christopher Eagerton, 23, of St. Benard, La., was arrested Tuesday morning for suspicion of driving under the influence.

Police took a report Monday about a stolen tailgate.

Deanna Hammons filed a report Monday over identity theft.
