Man arrested for obstructing officers


TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Tahlequah man last week for trespassing and obstruction.

Deputy Daniel Pruitt said Calvin Lee Vann, 45, had been told to leave and stay away from a residence on Thursday. Vann allegedly returned later, broke in through a window and entered a bedroom. When deputies arrived, they found Vann hiding under a bed.

In other matters, deputies spoke to Robert Maxey after someone stole three firearms from a gun cabinet in his house.

Charlie Kirk reported the theft of a cow Thursday. He said the animal is a cross-bred Brahma, tiger stripe, with small white spots on its forehead and a branded “CK” behind its left-front shoulder.

Phillip Lock filed a report recently after someone stole items from a home construction site.

Joey Bradford filed a report last week after someone broke into his house and took several items. Property was also stolen from a barn, he said.

Luther Hesley told deputies Thursday that someone broke the window on his home door and entered. Three televisions – a 55-inch Element, a 32-inch Sony, and a 32-inch Dynex – and an XBox were taken.

Betty Rosin spoke to deputies Thursday about someone breaking into a house and taking a Gateway laptop and several coins. Rosin said her son was at the home all day, and the person who broke in must have done so while her son was asleep.

Gregory Girty filed a stolen vehicle report Thursday after a Tulsa woman took his 2003 Dodge Durango. Girty said he called the woman, and she insisted she wouldn’t bring it back.
