Women reports assault to SO

TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies spoke to a woman Wednesday about an assault. Emma May said she was pushed to the ground by a man, and the fall caused her to injure a hip.

Deputies filed a death-investigation report Wednesday on Jared Wayne Rhodes, 35, of Park Hill. Deputies said there were no signs of trauma on Rhodes’ body, and his manner of death is listed as unknown.

Deputies spoke to Rebecca Hayes on Wednesday about receiving threatening phone calls.

Brett Hamby told deputies someone broke the glass out of a back door, entered the home and stole several items, including a jar of change, clothing, and medication.

Edward Smith spoke to deputies this week after his dogs were harassed by neighbor children who threw rocks.

Brenda Bishop reported theft of property by someone who was working for her this week. Bishop said the items taken include a chain saw, ladder, and various other tools.
