Week 1 area recaps

• Fort Gibson 42, Tahlequah 33: Tahlequah outgained Fort Gibson, 422 to 379, but four turnovers crippled Tahlequah in the end. Also, giving up 21 straight points to Fort Gibson didn’t help Tahlequah’s efforts, either.

• Sequoyah 45, Okemah 13: Tack Murray’s 80-yard touchdown run put Okemah in front early. All Sequoyah did was rally with 26 straight points before ultimately crushing Okemah, thanks to five touchdown passes by quarterback Zach Parish.

• Claremore-Sequoyah 37, Keys 7: The Eagles had 304 yards of total offense, and that was without their standout quarterback Daniel Moniz, who is out for roughly half of the season with a knee injury. The Cougars’ lone touchdown was a pass from Garett Willis to Elisha Allison.

• Yale 40, Hulbert 6: The Riders were in decent shape early on, trailing 8-6. However, that’s all Hulbert would come up with, point-wise, on the night. The Riders finished with a mere 142 yards of total offense.
