— PRYOR -- Class 5A No. 16 Tahlequah held off a late rally from the Pryor girls to take a 45-34 road Metro Lakes Conference win Saturday night.

Tahlequah (8-11, 6-3 MLC) jumped out to a 24-6 advantage late in the second quarter and headed into the locker room with a 24-11 edge behind 11 points from senior guard Marisa Girdner. Girdner finished with 17 points.

Pryor (0-17, 0-8 MLC) cut the lead to single-figures midway through the fourth quarter on a Hunter Gilstrap layup, but eight was as close as the Tigerettes could get.

Girdner hit four of her six free-throws in the final period to help seal the victory.

Junior Reagan Clark posted a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Kacady Glory netted six points, and sophomore Lindsey Wade stuffed the stat sheet with four points, seven boards, three assists and three steals.

Pryor was led by Hunter Gilstrap's 14 points. Teammate Rachel Zumstein chipped in 11 points and corralled seven caroms.

Danny Frailey and Pryor proved too much for visiting Tahlequah Saturday night, as the host Tigers romped 67-39 in a Metro Lakes Conference contest.

Pryor (9-8, 3-5 MLC) exploded for 45 points in the second half to blow open a close game at halftime. Frailey scored all 16 of his points and snared all nine of his rebounds in the second half.

"I knew I needed to step up because we were short a few of our big men," Frailey, the only senior on the squad, said.

Frailey only got the start because the Tigers' normal post anchor, junior Ryan Ogg, was out with an illness. Pryor also played without reserve forward Jaqwan Blalock.

Tahlequah's Matt Alberty led the Tigers (6-13, 3-6 MLC) with 13 points, but was held to just six points through the first three quarters. Jake Vader scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds off the bench.

Will Carlile and Hunter Smith each scored five points for Tahlequah. Tyler Arnold scored 15 points and Spencer Henson added 12 for Pryor.
