About Sequoyah: The Indians are ranked 15th in Class 3A. ... Sequoyah advanced to the tournament's semifinals with a 71-55 win over Webster. Ryan Helsley led the Indians with 16 points. ... Since losing to Victory Christian on Dec. 14, Sequoyah has won three straight games.

About Jenks: The Trojans are No. 6 in 6A. ... Jenks beat Hale, 65-50, to reach the tournament semifinals. Steven Parker paced the Trojans with 18 points. ... Jenks is 3-3 against ranked teams this year.

About Spiro: The Lady Bulldogs knocked off Porter, 54-17, to reach the semifinals. Philicea Mack notched 15 points to lead the Spiro effort.

About Hulbert: The Riders avenged an early-loss to Porter to reach the tournament semifinals. Hulbert beat Porter, 62-42, on Tuesday night behind 17 points and 11 rebounds from Craig Potts. ... Hulbert lost to Oktaha last season, 65-34, in the Crowder tournament.

About Oktaha: The Tigers are No. 2 in 2A. ... Dustin Leach led Oktaha with 16 points in the Tigers’ 71-29 win over Graham in the first round of the tournament.

About Keys: The Lady Cougars are in the consolation bracket after losing to Locust Grove, 57-46, on Tuesday.

About Chouteau: The Lady Wildcats were blown out by Adair, 76-26, in the first round of the tournament.

  • Date set for Keys football physicals

    Before scheduled practices can begin in order to prepare for the season, players must first receive a physical.
    Next Tuesday, Aug. 5, Keys High School will be administering physicals in the high school cafeteria.

    Recently, Keys High School football standout Dakota Matlock was nearly severely injured in a terrifying car wreck.

    Matlock is coming off a stellar gridiron season for Keys High School. On offense, Matlock ran for over 1,000 yards for the Cougars. In his sophomore season, Matlock led Keys in tackles from the safety position.

    Last season was Justin’s last chance to play alongside Cody at Sequoyah High School.
    Justin had to battle to win the Indians starting tailback. The coaching staff did not know who was going to be the Indians starting running back coming into fall practice.

  • Johnson, East win easily at All-State

    Jake Johnson was able to hold off Lawton MacArthur’s Trent Meisel at the Class 5A state tournament in May. On Monday at the All-State tournament at Cherokee Hills Golf Club, Johnson had it much easier against Meisel.
