TULSA — Tahlequah climbed over the .500 mark with a run-rule victory over Jay on Friday. The Tigers moved further past the .500 mark and kept their winning streak going with a 10-0 run-rule victory over Hale on Monday afternoon.
Houston Glad pitched a complete game for the Tigers and improved to 3-2 on the season. The senior hurler gave up only two hits while recording nine strikeouts.
Colby Brittain finished two-for-four for the Tigers, driving in three runs on a double and a single. Ryan Sanders drove in two runs for Tahlequah, and Brock Mitchell plated one. Colton Masburn finished two-for-three with two runs scored and a stolen base for the Tigers (8-6, 4-1 District 5A-3).
Tahlequah will wrap up their two-game district series with Hale at home on Tuesday at 5:30.
Tahlequah softball takes 2 from Jenks
Class 6A No. 7 Tahlequah posted two blowout wins against ninth-ranked Jenks on Monday. Tahlequah 12-5 and 14-2 (three innings).
In first game, Tahlequah rallied from a 5-3 deficit, thanks to Lindsay Wade’s two-for-four effort, which included four runs batted in. Lainey Wallace drove in three runs for Tahlequah, which recorded 19 hits.
In the second game, Jenks scored twice in the first inning before Tahlequah took over. Both Bub Peters and Wallace drove in three runs apiece for Tahlequah (8-3), which went 2-3 at the Big Cat Classic in Moore over the weekend.
Tahlequah’s next game will be Friday against Berryhill in the first round of the Muskogee/Tahlequah SlugOut.
Sequoyah sneaks past Stilwell
A run-scoring single by Billy Sunday was all Sequoyah needed to beat Stilwell, 1-0, on Monday afternoon. Sequoyah plated the run in the fifth inning.
Pitcher Zach Parish picked up the win for Sequoyah, giving up only two hits while striking out four.
Sequoyah is now 2-3 after going 1-1 in the Westville tournament over the weekend. The Indians will play at Oaks on Thursday.
