Tahlequah cross country calls off home meet

Local and state briefs

Tahlequah’s Tiger Invitational on Saturday has been canceled. Both Tahlequah cross country teams will now take part in the Vinita meet on Saturday.

Tahlequah was forced to call off its meet due to a “lack of participation,” Tahlequah coach Jason Proctor said. Most teams opted to enter the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater.

Tulsa to host Big 12 baseball tourney in 2015

TULSA — The Big 12 has announced that its annual baseball tournament will move to Tulsa in 2015 before returning to Oklahoma City in 2016.

The five-day event in Tulsa will be played at ONEOK Field, home of the Double-A Drillers. It will mark only the third time it has been played somewhere other than Oklahoma City, which has hosted the tournament in all but two years since 1997.

The Ballpark at Arlington hosted the event in 2002 and 2004.

ONEOK Field opened in 2010 and has a capacity of 8,152, but the stadium is capable of holding up to 9,009. It has averaged 9,300 fans for four games between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State since 2010.

Oklahoma City's Bricktown Ballpark, home of the Triple-A RedHawks, seats just over 13,000.
