Price collects first weekly accolade
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Northeastern State’s Baylee Price was named the MIAA Women’s Golf Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career, the league announced Wednesday.
In a tournament that featured two of the top 15 programs in the nation, the true freshman from Broken Arrow, Okla., was able to put together three solid rounds to finish in a tie for 13th at 244 (83-80-81).
She led the No. 22-ranked Northeastern State women’s golf team in scoring two of the three rounds, and she recorded her eighth (out of nine) top-15 finish of the season. She has been NSU’s low finisher in five events this year.
Northeastern State has brought home each of the last two weekly awards, as junior Arizona Chin picked up the accolade last week. Former RiverHawk Gabbi Shelton also won the award on Sept. 25, and NSU is the only school to have three different student-athletes win the weekly award in 2013-14.
NSU will next compete at the 2014 MIAA Championship, which is set for April 21-23 and will be held at Alvamar Country Club in Lawrence, Kan.
