THS tourney slate altered

Local briefs

Tahlequah’s home baseball tournament revamped its schedule on Thursday after heavy rains fell during the early-morning hours.

The Tigers were supposed to play two games on Thursday but will instead play twice on Friday, at 6:20 p.m. at Checotah and at 8:30 vs. Keys. The Tigers will also play Saturday at 4:15 against Sallisaw.

Other games on Friday include: Sallisaw vs. Hilldale (10 a.m.); Cleveland vs. Jay (12:05 p.m.); Sallisaw vs. Jay (2:10); Cleveland vs. Hilldale (4:15).

Tigers get 2nd in MLC

The Tahlequah boys tennis team finished second in the Metro Lakes Conference tournament recently. Conner Nelson won the crown at No. 1 singles, beating Bishop Kelley’s Brin Bedwell, 6-3, 4-6, 10-3, in the finals.

Hunter Manes and Lars Gris came in second at No. 1 doubles for Tahlequah, while Ben Ballard and John Molina were also second at No. 2 doubles.

Manes was also named to the All-Conference team.

Lady Tigers rained out

Tahlequah’s second-ranked slowpitch softball team was rained out on Thursday. The Lady Tigers were scheduled to take on Broken Arrow and Union in Broken Arrow.

Instead, Tahlequah’s next two games will be against Fort Gibson at home today. The doubleheader will start at 3:30 p.m.

Other events washed out

The Sequoyah baseball team was rained out on Thursday at the Stilwell tournament. The Indians were supposed to take on Vian, but will now face NOAH (12:15 p.m.) and Haskell (2:15) on Friday in Stilwell.

The Sequoyah boys golf team will take part in the Hilldale tournament today after it was postponed on Thursday.

Northeastern State’s softball team was supposed to take on Nebraska Kearney on Thursday in Bolivar, Mo., but the game was rained out for the second time this season. A makeup date has yet to be announced.
