Lady Indians to play in BOK hoops event

The Sequoyah girls basketball team will take part in the inaugural BOK High School Hoops Showcase in Tulsa in January. The event will be held at the BOK Center in Tulsa.

Sequoyah will tenatively be scheduled to play Jay. The rest of the field has yet to be announced.

“This is an opportunity of a lifetime for our girls since not that many high school athletes get to play in a venue like the BOK Center,” Sequoyah athletic director Marcus Crittenden said in a release from the school. “We hope to have Sequoyah fans turn out in full force in support of our Lady Indians. Having a big Sequoyah crowd to cheer on our kids will hopefully make it easier for the event organizers to decide to invite us back.”

Sequoyah concluded the 2012-2013 season at the Class 3A state tournament in Oklahoma City. The Lady Indians went 20-9 and lost to Adair in the opening round of the state tournament.

The BOK High School Hoops Showcase is slated to begin Jan. 18 and will feature an eight-team boys field and an eight-team girls field.
