Lamons, Sellers win titles at Carl Albert

MIDWEST CITY — Hestin Lamons and Mitch Sellers brought home individual titles for Tahlequah on Saturday at the Malcolm Wade Invitational at Carl Albert High School.

Lamons (152 pounds) beat Putnam City North's Velijah Cato, 3-0, while also being named the tournament's most outstanding wrestler.

At 145 pounds, Sellers outlasted Duncan's Hunter Kelly, 7-5, in the finals.

For both Lamons and Sellers, that's two straight weeks of winning individual championships after claiming titles at the McAlester tournament on Jan. 11.

Tahlequah — which also had Zech VanFleet (126) finish second and Reese Davis (160) finish fifth — came in fifth place with 130 points. Lawton MacArthur, with five individual champions, won the team crown with 250 points. Shawnee (147), Del City (145) and Altus (142) rounded out the rest of the top four in front of Tahlequah, which will host Shawnee on Thursday.

Keys, Sequoyah finish with 1 placer each in Tuttle

At the Greg Henning Invitational in Tuttle, Keys and Sequoyah both had one wrestler each in the top six in their weight division.

For Keys, Seth Fritts (160) came in fourth with a 5-4 loss to Marlow's Seth Scarbrough in the consolation finals.

At 126, Will Tiger came in fifth for Sequoyah by beating Marlow's Chris Davis by major decision, 9-0.

Tuttle won the team title with six individuals. The Tigers had 243.5 points while Cushing was second with 231.5.
