Lady Indians win big

— Class 3A No. 1 Sequoyah coasted past Haskell on the softball diamond on Tuesday, winning 12-0. The Lady Indians were led offensively by Symphoni Shomo, who slugged a grand slam.

Kelsey Leach also smacked a home run for Sequoyah (27-6).

Kati Phillips picked up the win for the Lady Indians, who will play at 4A No. 2 Fort Gibson on Monday.



Sequoyah blanks Okay

Class 4A No. 4 Sequoyah beat Okay 3-0 (25-9, 25-15, 25-17) on Tuesday night at The Place Where They Play. Audrey Ballou led the Lady Indians with six kills and four aces.

Eva Hooper added 13 assists for the Lady Indians (26-5), who bounced back from a loss to Muskogee on Monday.

Sequoyah will be back in action Thursday at Wagoner.



Tulsa’s Williams name WNBA 6th Woman of the Year

TULSA — Tulsa Shock guard Riquna Williams has been named the 2013 WNBA Sixth Woman of the Year.

The WNBA announced the award Tuesday.

Williams played in 27 games — 21 as a reserve — and averaged 15.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1 steal per game. She set a WNBA record with 51 points in a Sept. 8 Tulsa win over San Antonio.
