Glencoe defeats Kiowa for Class A boys championship

Forgan wins 3rd B title in 4 years

Jace Kerr had 23 points, nine rebounds and five assists, Trevin Lopez added 20 points and Forgan won its third state basketball title in four years, beating Lookeba-Sickles 77-69 on Saturday in the Class B boys championship game.

No. 1 Forgan, located in the eastern Oklahoma Panhandle, also won titles in 2011 and 2012. The Bulldogs led most of the way against No. 3 Lookeba-Sickles (26-5), but couldn't shake the Panthers, never leading by more than 13 points.

Lookeba-Sickles led 17-15 early in the second quarter, but Forgan (29-1) used a 15-4 run to go up 30-21 and led 41-33 at halftime after a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by Lopez.

The Panthers closed within 41-37 early in the second half before Forgan rebuilt its lead. Forgan went 10-of-16 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Bryson Lierie and Connor Karpe each scored 22 points for Lookeba-Sickles.

Northwestern State gets by Oral Roberts 88-82

NATCHITOCHES, La. — Zikiteran Woodley scored 22 points and Jalan West had 19 to lead Northwestern State to an 88-82 victory over Oral Roberts on Saturday.

Woodely, who hit 8-of-12 field goals, also had three blocks. West was 5 of 10 from the floor as Northwestern State (16-13, 12-6 Southland) made 50 percent of its field goal attempts.

Northwestern State led throughout most of the second half but ORU stayed close, climbing within four (82-78) following a 3-point shot by Adrion Webber with 37 seconds remaining. West then made four consecutive free throws and Woodely made two more for the win.

The Demons secured a fourth-place finish in conference which will give them a first round bye in the conference tournament, beginning March 12.

Brison White added 14 points and DeQuan Hicks had 11 for the Demons.

Shawn Glover had 26 points and Korey Billbury added 21 for ORU (16-15, 10-8).

No. 12 Oklahoma St. tops Iowa St. 67-57 in Big 12 tournament

OKLAHOMA CITY — Brittney Martin scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as fourth-seeded and 18th-ranked Oklahoma State pulled away late to beat Iowa State 67-57 in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament on Saturday.

The Cowgirls (23-7) face top-seeded and ninth-ranked Baylor in the semifinals on Sunday.

Oklahoma State got 14 points each from Tiffany Bias and Brittany Atkins and Kendra Suttles, who was clutch off the bench down the stretch, had 11.

The Cyclones (20-10) tied the game at 52 with 8:45 to play but went cold. OSU used a 6-0 surge for separation and closed the game by hitting 6 of 8 free throws. Suttles scored seven straight points for the Cowgirls as they pulled away.

Hallie Christofferson led Iowa State with 21 points and 11 rebounds and Nikki Moody had 14 points. ISU shot just 34 percent, going 7 for 25 from 3-point range.

Oklahoma State shot 50 percent and forced Iowa State into 16 turnovers.
