Bishop McGuinness sweeps Tahlequah teams

— OKLAHOMA CITY — Randee O’Donnell scored 10 points in Tahlequah’s 55-47 loss at Bishop McGuinness on Saturday night.

According to Tahlequah coach Chad Walker, the Lady Tigers were 2 of 17 on shots in the paint. Tahlequah also misfired on 10 free throws.

Making matters worse, Tahlequah’s Casey Beaston went down with an ankle injury in the contest.

In the boys game, Class 5A No. 3 Bishop McGuinness blew past Tahlequah, 52-29. No information from the game was reported to the Daily Press.



Hulbert splits with Sallisaw Central

SALLISAW — Tiffany Thompson scored 15 points, and Lindsey Krueger added 16 as Hulbert beat Sallisaw Central, 43-40, on Friday night.

With the win, Hulbert improved to 8-2.

In the boys game, the Riders fell to Sallisaw Central, 69-33. Craig Potts led Hulbert with nine points.

Both Hulbert teams will be in action again in the Shrine tournament next week in Muskogee.



Lamons finishes 2nd for Tigers

JENKS — Hestin Lamons finished second to Muskogee’s Dawaylon Barnes at 145 pounds to record Tahlequah’s highest finish at Larry Wilkey Invitational in Jenks on Saturday.

As a team, Tahlequah finished 16th out of 20 teams.

At 126 pounds, Paul Sargent came in fourth, and Mitch Sellers (132) came in fifth.

The Tigers return home Thursday to take on Poteau.
