CEMENT — Despite hopes that the road was paved toward a better season, Cement called it quits for the 2013 football campaign because it didn’t have enough players.
The Lawton Constitution reported that the team had 13 players at the start of preseason drills but that the Bulldogs hit a bump in the road after their numbers dropped to eight.
Coach Zach Josey was hoping to improve on the team’s 4-5 record last year. Cement was 0-9 in 2011 and 2-7 in 2010.
The newspaper reported that players and school administrators set their decision in stone last week.
Coaches had picked the Bulldogs to settle in at seventh place by the end of the season.
Josey will work with the middle school team.
