Q&A: David Dick, Tahlequah quarterback

David Dick is a versatile running-passing combination at quarterback for Tahlequah. There’s also a chance that the senior quarterback could pick up some time in the defensive backfield in 2013.

Outside of playing high school sports, what’s something people don’t know about David Dick?

I love to hunt and fish. That’s probably my two other passions that I’ve got.

Being a hunting and fishing guy, what’s the biggest catch you’ve ever had in either one?

I’ve never shot a big buck, but I snagged a 40-pound Spoonbill about a month ago. And duck hunting is by far my favorite kind.

What is it about duck hunting that  you like so much?

Just listening to the wing set of the ducks coming in and landing. It’s a cool sight to see.

Did you get a duck call from Duck Commander?

I did. I went out and got me a Duck Commander duck call, and I love it.

Are you a big fan of Duck Dynasty?

I am a fan of the show. I watch it all the time.

Who is your favorite person on the show?

Probably Jase. He seems kind of like me. I still like Si, but he is everyone’s favorite. But Jase seems to be more up my alley — just messing with people and getting in trouble every now and then.

Your parents own a funeral home, so what’s it been like with your parents dealing with that sort of thing?

They built it when I was six months old, so I’ve grown up with it my entire life. It never has really bothered me, unless I see a young kid that I may know. It can get depressing then.

Where do you plan on going after high school?

I’m kind of up for anything right now. Whatever comes along, I may just take the opportunity that I get.
