Tigers win Union golf title

— TULSA — Tahlequah’s boys golf team shot a 308 and won the Union tournament title on Tuesday afternoon at LaFortune Park Golf Course.

Brent Spradlin led the way for the Tigers with a 73, which was good for second place after losing on the first playoff hole to Union’s Preston Walker.

Other scores for Tahelquah included Blake Berry (75), Jake Johnson (78), Hunter Pennington (82) and Kyler Arnall (91). Berry finished third overall and Johnson was eighth.

The Tigers won the tournament by five strokes, with Union’s B team second at 313. Memorial was third at 337.

Tahlequah will play again Monday at a Class 5A regional preview at Shawnee Country Club.



THS softball wins big

VIAN — Class 6A No. 2 Tahlequah won a pair of slowpitch softball games on Tuesday, beating Vian 15-5 and Panama 16-6. The Lady Tigers are now 30-2 and have won 15 straight games.

Tahlequah’s next two games will be in Broken Arrow on Thursday when it takes on 6A No. 5 Union and 6A No. 8 Broken Arrow.



Indians double up on Keys

PARK HILL — Ryan Helsley went 2 for 3 with two runs batted in while also picking up the pitching victory in Sequoyah’s 14-7 win over Keys on the baseball diamond on Tuesday.

Billy Sunday, Ty West and Quinton Johnston all drove in two runs apiece for the Indians (8-6). West hit a two-run home run and Johnston tallied two doubles.

Sequoyah will play again Thursday in the Stilwell tournament. Next week the Indians will take on Westville in a Class 3A district tournament. The tournament will be Thursday at Sequoyah, with the “if-necessary” game on Friday.



THS soccer splits vs Memorial

Tahlequah’s girls soccer team beat Tulsa Memorial 5-0 on Tuesday night. The Lady Tigers are now 2-3 in District 5A-3 play and 6-6 overall.

The Tigers lost to Memorial 4-0. Tahlequah is now 5-6 and 2-3 in league play.

Both Tahlequah teams will play at Central on Friday night.



Keys 2nd, SHS 4th at tourney

Keys’ girls golf team shot a 417 and finished second at the Class 3A qualifying tournament at Cherokee Trails Golf Course on Tuesday. Brooke Short led the way for the Lady Cougars with a 101.

Keys’ other golfers included Kayla Hunt (102), Kaylee Snyder (104), Ali Nolan (110) and Jessica Johnson (114).

Eufaula won the team title with a 320, and Eufaula golfer Faith Lasiter was first overall with a 75.

Westville (427) was third, Sequoyah (465) was fourth and Dewey (466) was fifth. Taylor Thompson led Sequoyah with a 110.



Lady Cougars beat Porter

PORTER — The Keys girls soccer team beat Porter 4-1 on Tuesday night. The Lady Cougars are now 7-2 overall and 3-1 in District 4A-6. Keys’ next game will be Friday at Fort Gibson.
