THS gets 3 golds at Muskogee meet

MUSKOGEE — Jordan Roach recorded a leap of 5 feet even to finish first in the high-jump competition at the Muskogee track meet on Friday. The Tahlequah senior beat out a pair of teammates, Emily Basks and Tiffany Cochran, who both jumped 4 feet, 10 inches.

The Tahlequah girls 3,200-meter relay team also came in second place behind Jenks.

In the long jump, Alli George was third for the Lady Tigers at 15 feet, 2 inches.

For the Tahlequah boys, Aaron Eversole logged a first-place finish in the 800-meter run, coming in a 1:58.97 ahead of Jenks’ Ross Stacy. Tahelquah’s Ara Poteete was second in the 3,200-meter run.

In the high jump, Brandon Conrad finished first for the Tigers at 6 feet, 2 inches. Eric Garcia was second for Tahlequah in the discus.

There were no team standings recorded at the event.

Indians fall to Vian

STILWELL — Kyle Helsley, Karter Woodruff, Zach Parish and Quinton Johnston all had two hits apiece, but it wasn't enough as Sequoyah fell to Class 3A No. 2 Vian, 8-4, on Saturday at the Stilwell tournament. The two teams were originally slated to play Thursday, but the game was postponed due to rain during the middle of the week.

Ryan Helsley took the loss for the Indians, who fell to 10-8 and will take on Sallisaw Central on the road Monday.

SHS shuts out Stilwell

STILWELL — Sequoyah’s slowpitch softball team shut out Stilwell en route to a 12-0 victory on Friday.

Sequoyah will now prepare for regional tournament play this week.
