Janari Glover saga continues for NSU

High school athletes all across the nation signed national letters of intent on Feb. 5. Fax machines were humming and college football programs were filling out their rosters with soon-to-be freshmen.

One player in Oklahoma that wasn’t signing anything was Millwood’s Janari Glover. In fact, on signing day, it was rumored that he was still trying to decide between Northeastern State and Western Illinois.

And Glover still hasn’t come to a decision.

As of Thursday morning, Glover had not signed a letter of intent and was still mulling his college destination, according to Millwood coach Darwin Franklin.

“He’s been kind of wish-washy,” Franklin said. “He’s been kind of all over the place.”

The Oklahoman reported that Glover had chosen Western Illinois, but a representative at the school in Macomb, Ill., refuted that notion on Thursday.

“At this time, he is not part of the 2014 signing class,” said a Western Illinois spokesman.

So, let Glover’s recruitment continue.

“The last word I had was that he committed to NSU,” Franklin said, “but he was still trying to decide.”

As a senior for the Class 2A state runners-up Millwood Falcons, Glover ran for 1,187 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2013.

The hang-up in Glover’s decision-making is the option to run track at Western Illinois. A source told the Tahlequah Daily Press on signing day that Western Illinois was trying to couple a football scholarship with a track scholarship.
