Tahlequah at Grove

When: 7 p.m.

Where: Ridgerunner Stadium.

Radio: KEOK, FM-102.1.

Nicknames: Tahlequah Tigers; Grove Ridgerunners.

Coaches: Tahlequah - Brad Gilbert (second season, 1-12); Grove - Dennis Millican (ninth season, 56-38).

Records: Tahlequah 0-3 (0-0); Grove 1-2 (0-0).

Rankings: Neither team is ranked in Class 5A.

Series record: Tahlequah leads 8-6-1.

Last meeting: Tahlequah beat Grove 35-20 last season. The Tigers broke a 7-7 tie in the second quarter with 21 unanswered points. Tahlequah’s Mason McMillan rushed for 225 yards on 26 carries.

Last week: Sallisaw 45, Tahlequah 28; Wagoner 35, Grove 14.

News to know: Grove has won two of the three meetings between the two clubs. ... Tahlequah hasn’t won on the road since beating Stilwell 24-20 in 2011.

Players to watch

- Tahlequah: David Dick (QB), Brandon Conrad (RB).

-- Dick and Conrad combined for 294 rushing yards on 31 carries in last week’s loss to Sallisaw. Dick had scoring runs of 15, 24 and 65 yards, while Conrad churned out a 75-yard score. Conrad also had a 65-yard touchdown run wiped away by a holding penalty.

- Grove: Mason Jeffries (WR).

-- The Ridgerunners’ primary pass catcher has 11 catches for 198 yards and two touchdowns this season.

Looking ahead: Tahlequah returns home on Oct. 4 to host Claremore, while Grove travels to Collinsville.

Locust Grove at Sequoyah

Where: Thompson Field.

Radio: KTLQ, AM-1350.

Nicknames: Sequoyah Indians; Locust Grove Pirates.

Coaches: Sequoyah - Shane Richardson (first season, 1-2); Locust Grove - Matt Hennesy (second season, 8-5).

Records: Sequoyah 1-2 (0-0 District 3A-7); Locust Grove 3-0 (0-0).

Rankings: Sequoyah is not ranked in Class 3A; Locust Grove is No. 13 in 3A in the Associated Press’ prep poll.

Series record: Sequoyah leads 12-10.

Last meeting: Sequoyah beat Locust Grove 58-13 in 2012 (before having to forfeit the victory later in the year). The Indians piled up 573 yards of total offense against the Pirates last season.

Last week: Victory Christian 62, Sequoyah 24; Locust Grove 34, Stilwell 0.

News to know: Sequoyah has won the last three meetings by a combined score of 154-27 … The 62 points given up last week were the most by an Indian team since a 64-0 loss to Dewar in 1987.

Players to watch

- Sequoyah: Zach Parish (QB).

-- Sequoyah’s quarterback has passed for 461 yards and nine touchdowns through three games. However, he’s only completing 48.1 percent (37 of 77) of his passes, and he has also thrown four interceptions.

- Locust Grove: Mason Fine (QB).

-- Fine amassed 329 yards of total offense in the Pirates’ win over Stilwell last week. His favorite target was Cameron McIntire, who hauled in seven passes for 88 yards and a touchdown.

Looking ahead: Sequoyah will continue at home and host Keys on Oct. 4, while Locust Grove will play at Westville.

Keys at Westville

When: 7:30 p.m.

Where: Yellowjacket Stadium.

Radio: Tape delayed on KEOK, FM-102.1.

Nicknames: Keys Cougars; Westville Yellowjackets.

Coaches: Keys - Gary Willis (12th season, 76-50); Westville - Darin Kapella (first season, 0-3).

Records: Both teams are 0-3.

Rankings: Neither team is ranked in Class 3A.

Series record: Keys leads 4-1.

Last meeting: In 2012, Keys beat Westville 48-18.

Last week: Eufaula 49, Keys 22; Kansas 50, Westville 6.

News to know: Keys is allowing 43.3 points per game through three games. ... Westville has been outscored by an average of 47-6 in its first three games.

Players to watch

Looking ahead: Keys will play at Sequoyah on Oct. 4, while Westville will take on Locust Grove.

Hulbert at Colcord

When: 7 p.m.

Where: Hornet Stadium.

Nicknames: Hulbert Riders; Colcord Hornets.

Coaches: Hulbert - Gary Riley (first season, 0-3); Colcord - Terrill Denny second season, 8-6)

Records: Hulbert 0-3 (0-0 District 2A-8); Colcord 2-1 (0-0).

Rankings: Neither team is ranked in Class 2A.

Series record: Tied 21-21.

Last meeting: In 2012, Colcord beat Hulbert 27-12.

Last week: Kiefer 43, Hulbert 6; Sallisaw Central 24, Colcord 19.

News to know: Hulbert hasn’t beaten Colcord since 1995.

Looking ahead: Hulbert opens up at home against Wyandotte, while Colcord challenge Salina.
