Keys beats Westville in 3A-7 clash

WESTVILLE — Keys ran for 251 yards to churn out a 28-21 victory at Westville on Friday night in a District 3A-7 opener for both clubs.

Dakota Matlock rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown, and he also returned an interception for touchdown as Keys improved to 1-3 and 1-0 in 3A-7.

Keys got on the scoreboard with a Josh Ferguson 15-yard run early on. Then Matlock followed with a 60-yard interception return for a score.

Matlock later reeled off a 63-yard touchdown run, and Chase Girdner hauled in a 15-yard touchdown pass from Dillon Stratton to cap off the Cougars’ scoring on the night.

Ferguson rushed for 53 yards for Keys, while John Haeberle added 44 yards of his own on the ground.

Keys will continue on the road at Sequoyah on Friday night. Westville (0-4, 0-1) will take on Locust Grove.
