Sequoyah’s volleyball program lost to Oklahoma Christian in three straight sets in the state tournament Friday evening, knocking the Lady Indians out of a state championship run.
After beating OCS in the OK Tourney earlier in the season, OCS got its revenge Friday in the first round of the state volleyball tournament. Sequoyah lost the first set 25-18, the second 25-20 and the third set 25-18.
The key to Oklahoma Christian’s victories in each set over Sequoyah was OCS jumping out in each set to take a commanding lead. Sequoyah battled back each time, closing the lead – but in the end they where ousted by OCS in the state quarterfinals.
The Lady Indians went 31-6 on the season, and the only loss for the Lady Indians in Class 4A was to OCS on Friday. This was the first time that Sequoyah’s volleyball team made the state tournament since 2006.
