For the second straight season, Tahlequah and Chickasha will face off in the first round of the Class 5A state softball tournament. The matchup was determined when the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association released the 5A bracket on Monday.
Tahlequah and Chickasha will play at 5 p.m. on Thursday at the Ball Fields at Firelake in Shawnee. Chickasha beat Tahlequah 6-2 in last year’s state tournament and went on to lose to Grove in the championship game.
Other first-round matchups this year include Deer Creek vs. Collinsville at 11 a.m.; Carl Albert vs. MacArthur at 1 p.m.; and Duncan vs. Claremore at 3 p.m.
Every game in the 5A state tournament will be played on Field 2 at this year’s venue.
The semifinal games will be Friday at noon and 2 p.m. and the championship game will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
