Michael Fleming led the Hulbert Riders in the 2008 Baseball Season in five categories.
He was the batting champion with an average of .433 and led the Riders with most At Bats with 30.
Fleming also scored the most runs at nine and had the most hits at 13. Fleming led the team in doubles with three. Fleming also had one homer for the season.
Daniel Wikel was the leader in RBI with eight. Mac Capps was the team leader in stolen bases with three. The Riders had co-leaders in Triples in Daniel Mauldin and Theron Howard with one triple each. Kenny Vance led the team in home runs with two. Dustin Shade also had a homer in the season. Capps was hit-by-pitch the most times with five.
Shade actually had a higher batting average with .450, but had fewer times at bat. Shade, Vance, and Kyle Jenkins had five RBI each.
The leading pitcher for the Riders was Shade, with two wins and one save. He finished the season with 32 strikeouts.
The Riders leading On Base Percentage leader was Shade with .567. Capps was .519 while Wikel was .478. Fleming was .469 and Teague was .438. Harmon had a percentage of .417to round out the Riders over .400. Vance had an On Base Percentage of ..600 but did not qualify for the lead because of not enough at bats.
"We did some good things this year and learned a lot this season,” Hulbert baseball coach Scott Sapulpa said. “We were a young team and not having fielded a team last year hurt us in limited playing time and lack of experience. Despite that, we have a good nucleus coming back for next year. We also went 3-2 in Junior High for the season. We have some good kids coming up that will help our High school Program for next year.”
