Eight local high school baseball players played in the Heartland Classic played in the Muskogee last weekend.
From Tahlequah Jeremy Chuculate played for the White/Red team. Daniel Wikel of Hulbert was on the Vegas Gold Team. Four Keys players were on the rosters of teams in the tournament — Jake Fisher, Jake Mellencamp and Trey Kimball were on the NEO Redmen while Chance Ross played on the Orange Team.
The Sequoyah Indians had three on various rosters. Ryan Walker was on the Vegas Gold Team, Nate Linch played on the the Black Team and, Dustin Jones was on the Burnt Orange Team.
The Ontario Blue Jays of Canada won the tournament with a 6-1 win over the Oklahoma Navy team. Navy had got into the finals by defeating Oklahoma Orange Team 8-6 and Ontario had reached the finals with a win an 11-3 over Oklahoma Black/White Team.
Wikel of Hulbert was 1-2 with a walk in the final game against White/Red. Wikel also scored a run and had a put out. Kimble of the NEO Redmen went 2-4 in the game with two RBI in the game with Black.
