Tahlequah volleyball beats McAlester
MCALESTER — Tahlequah recorded 28 service aces and cruised to a 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-11) victory over McAlester on Tuesday.
Katie Schneider led Tahlequah (10-4) with 10 aces and Amanda Milnick had eight.
Tahlequah’s next match will be against Sequoyah in the Coweta tournament on Friday.
Lady Indians get past Salina
SALINA — Playing without Audrey Ballou, who was out with an injury, Class 4A No. 6 Sequoyah managed to escape Salina with a 3-1 (25-13, 27-25, 14-25, 25-20) triumph on Tuesday.
Baylee Herrin had six kills and three blocks for the Lady Indians, who also had four kills apiece from Kayli Gonzalez and Britanie Wacoche. Eva Hooper also had 16 assists.
“Our serving game helped because it was tough to score,” said Sequoyah coach Jay Herrin, whose team had 14 serving aces. “The girls had to raise their level of play, and I was pleased with the win.”
Sequoyah (18-0) will play again Thursday at Westville.
Keys knocks off Locust Grove
Keys’ softball team beat Locust Grove, 5-3, on Tuesday.
Sydni Rainbolt picked up the pitching victory for Keys while also going two for three at the plate. She also only issued four hits against Locust Grove.
Keys will host Class 4A No. 1 Hilldale on Monday.
