The Northeastern State men’s soccer program was a recipient of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award, the organization announced.
The NSCAA annually recognizes college and high school soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their work on the pitch.
A total of 862 college soccer teams (269 men, 593 women) posted a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the accolade for the 2012-13 academic year.
The RiverHawks (10-3-4), led by fourth-year coach Rob Czlonka, finished runner up in the MIAA for the second-straight year and just missed an opportunity to compete in the NCAA Championship for the second season in a row.

The 2013 MIAA Academic Honor Roll recipients for football were announced Thursday by the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.
Northeastern State placed 18 members of the squad on the honor roll. Those included 10 offensive players, six defensive players and two specialists.
