Cookson no longer with Lady Tigers

Class 5A No. 9 Tahlequah will be without forward Jhonett Cookson the rest of the season. The 6-foot-1 sophomore forward is no longer enrolled at Tahlequah High School, according to several sources.

Cookson is now a student at Sequoyah High School, according to her Twitter profile.

Tahlequah coach Chad Walker confirmed Cookson’s departure.

“Whatever happens,” he said, “she’s not a part of our team.”

Attempts by the Daily Press to contact the Cookson family were unsuccessful.

In 15 games this season, Cookson was averaging 11 points and 7.8 rebounds per contests.
