Keys wins district opener

PARK HILL — Keys' girls soccer team began District 4A-6 play on Tuesday night with a 3-0 victory over Poteau at Cougar Stadium.

Keys' Rachel Lawrence scored twice while Shelby Smith added the final tally for the Lady Cougars.

Keys is now 4-1 overall and 1-0 in 4A-6. The Lady Cougars, tied with Fort Gibson, Stilwell and Porter for first place in the district, will remain home and take on Stilwell on Thursday night.

Local teams rained out

A slew of events were postponed for canceled on Tuesday because of rain that entered the area late Monday night.

Tahlequah's slowpitch softball team had its home doubleheader against Fort Gibson postponed until April 19. Tahlequah's girls golf team was also supposed to play in the Hilldale tournament at Cobblestone Golf Course, but the event was pushed back to Friday.

Other area events that were canceled without any makeup date in place were: Tahlequah's boys golf team at the Claremore tournament; Sequoyah's baseball team at Salina; Sequoyah's softball team at the Jenks festival; Keys' baseball team home game against Westville.
