Sequoyah teams get 5th at Inola tournament

INOLA — Zach Parish scored 18 points to lead Class 3A No. 5 Sequoyah to a 61-55 victory over Pryor in the fifth-place game in the Jerry O'Quin Invitational in Inola on Saturday.

B.J. Leach added 14 points for the Indians, who also got 10 points from Quinton Johnston.

Sequoyah, which used a 22-16 first quarter to its advantage the rest of the way, improved to 4-1 with a home contest against McAlester on Tuesday.

Sequoyah (girls) 65, Catoosa 35

Audrey Ballou logged 17 points and Loren Young added 12 points as Class 3A No. 3 Sequoyah breezed past Catoosa in the fifth-place game of the Jerry O'Quin Invitational in Inola on Saturday.

Jhonett Cookson added 11 points for the Lady Indians (4-1), who put Catoosa away early with an 18-7 first quarter before racing out to a 42-12 halftime edge.

Keys (girls) 66, Wagoner 35

Jaylee Young scored 18 points and Sydni Rainbolt chipped in with 17 points as Keys picked up its first victory of the season with a rout of Wagoner on Saturday night at Cougar Fieldhouse.

Keys (1-1) was able to take full control in the second quarter by outscoring Wagoner 10-4. The Lady Cougars then put the game away with a 26-6 third period.

Adding to Keys' offensive onslaught was the duo of Ali Nolan and Taylor O'Donnell both of whom tallied nine points apiece.

Keys will be back in action Tuesday night at Locust Grove.

No information was reported on the Keys boys game against Wagoner.
