Hornets sting Hulbert in 2A-8 opener

COLCORD — Colcord scored the first 50 points of the game and blew out Hulbert 56-6 in a District 2A-8 matchup on Friday night.

Colcord quarterback Caleb Shawver hit Will Farris for a 61-yard touchdown pass early in the first quarter, and Shawver followed with a 63-yard touchdown strike to JJ Potter.

The Hornets finished with 501 yards of total offense, with 321 of it coming through the air. Shawver logged all of the passing yards on 19 of 26 attempts. He passed for five touchdowns.

Hulbert’s lone touchdown came on a 10-yard run by Levi Carson in the fourth quarter. Carson rushed for 102 yards on 13 carries.

Hulbert (0-4, 0-1) will play its home opener on Friday night against Wyandotte.
