Lady Cougars finally get to play, beat Chouteau

LOCUST GROVE — The Keys Lady Cougars used 17 points from Sydni Rainbolt to blow open a close game after halftime and trip Chouteau, 54-37, in a consolation semifinal Friday at the Bank of Locust Grove Invitational.

Chouteau (1-8) trailed 25-23 at the half and led 27-26 early in the third quarter before Rainbolt and Jaylee Young (13 points) fueled a huge run. Keys ended the game on a 28-10 spurt and led by as many as 21 points in the second half.

The Ladycats' Allison Grossman led all scorers with 19 points. Teammate Karlee Alberty added 10 points.

Keys was forced to forfeit its first-round game against Salina due to a weather-related school closure. The Lady Cougars advance to play the Fort Gibson junior varsity for the consolation title Saturday at 1 p.m. Chouteau falls into a seventh-place rematch vs. Westville. The Lady Yellowjackets defeated Chouteau in a seventh-place game at the Adair

Invitational Tournament in December. The Ladycats and Lady Yellowjackets are slated to tip at 10 a.m. Saturday.
