Times set for slowpitch state tournaments

Class 6A No. 2 Tahlequah will take on No. 8 Broken Arrow in the first round of the state tournament in Oklahoma City on Wednesday. Game times and pairings were released by the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association on Friday.

Tahlequah (37-2) enters the state tournament after beating Stilwell, 14-3, in the regional tournament finals on Thursday. The Lady Tigers have now won 22 games in a row.

Tahlequah and Broken Arrow will play at 10 a.m. at Oklahoma City’s ASA Hall of Fame Stadium. The two teams will play on Field 1, while all other 6A matchups take place on the other three fields.

The Tahlequah-Broken Arrow winner will take on either third-ranked Moore or No. 7 Jenks in the semifinals at 12:30 p.m. The 6A title game is at 3:15. Other teams in the 6A field include Union, Muskogee, Southmoore and No. 1 Westmoore.

In Class 5A, No. 8 Sequoyah — fresh off a regional tournament title over No. 2 Valliant — will play No. 5 Cache in the opening round of the state tournament on Wednesday at 11:15 a.m.

The Sequoyah-Cache winner will play the Purcell-Bethel winner at 3:15 on Field 3. The 5A championship game is at 6:15.
