Up and down day for Tahlequah soccer teams

Local briefs

STILWELL — Both Tahlequah soccer teams posted wins over Webster in the first round of the Stilwell tournament on Thursday.

The Tahlequah boys beat Webster 5-0 with goals from Alex Paris, Christian Olson, Luis Santana, Eric Lopez and Trae Hendricks. The Tahlequah girls beat Webster 3-0.

Both Tahlequah teams, however, suffered losses in their second games of the day. The Tahlequah girls lost to Collinsville 1-0, and the Tahlequah boys lost 2-1 to Stilwell.

On Friday, the Tahlequah girls will play at 2:30 against Inola. The Tahlequah boys will play Miami at 2:30.

Hulbert baseball loses at Okay tourney

OKAY — Chad Schluns recorded 12 strikeouts, but Hulbert’s baseball team suffered a 5-2 loss against Haskell at the Okay tournament on Thursday.

Quentin Thompson had a double and two runs batted in for the Riders (5-4), who will take on Chouteau on Friday at 6 p.m. for third place in the tournament.

Hulbert softball wins again

SALLISAW — Hulbert’s softball team posted a 19-9 win over Central (Sallisaw) on Thursday afternoon.

Every Hulbert player recorded a hit, with Ashlyn Riley, Paige Taylor, Krista Bowlin and Ashtin Barnoskie each three hits apiece. Riley, Taylor, Shania Botts and Jessica Rhodes all had three runs batted in.

Hulbert had 21 hits as a team. The Lady Riders scored in every inning except the fourth. Hulbert had seven runs in the sixth inning.

Hulbert will play at the Oktaha tournament starting today.
