Tahlequah’s season comes to an end

From Staff reports

— EDMOND — Reagan Clark notched 15 points but it wasn’t enough for Tahlequah to overcome Del City in a 58-56 loss that brought the Lady Tigers’ season to a close at the Deer Creek Regional.

Del City advances to take on Deer Creek on Saturday afternoon while Tahlequah’s season ends at 8-16 — a year after making a state-tournament appearance.

“We just came up a little short in the end,” Tahlequah coach Johnny Dyson said. “...The girls played their hearts out.”

Marisa Girdner added 11 points for Tahlequah, which closed the season on a five-game losing streak.

Alaisha Castleberry led Del City (9-15) with 21 points. Piper Kaithoff also scored in double figures for Del City with 17 points.

“We coming in that No. 3 (Kaithoff) and No. 15 (Castleberry) were their top players,” Dyson said. “We just couldn’t contain them.”
